Purpose
The float collar and shoe are mainly used to guide the casing string into the well smoothly, adjust the buoyancy of the casing string when running the casing, prevent the cement slurry from flowing into the casing by the back pressure valve, and accurately control the height of the cement plug in the casing during cementing, so as to ensure the cementing quality. Structural composition
The structure of the float collar (Fig. 1) is basically the same as that of the float shoe, except that its lower end is a male buckle, which is connected with the casing. The main body of the float shoe (Fig. 2) is made of alloy structural steel. The upper end is connected with the casing, and the lower end is a hemispherical cement or metal head to guide the casing down. It is equipped with back pressure valve, which can be drilled with PDC bit. When leaving the factory, the upper and lower channels of the valve are open. The fluid in the well has no resistance to the float shoe when the casing is initially laid. The pressure of circulating mud depresses the valve head by a displacement, and the three clasps at the end of the valve stem fall off automatically. After the pump is stopped, the valve presses the valve seat upward under the action of spring, which acts as a one-way valve. At this time, the drilling fluid or cement slurry can be pumped from up to down, but the fluid in the casing under the valve or in the annular space outside the casing cannot return.
