When the erosion turbulence caused by the change of pipe ID is located on the thick wall of the flow coupling, the flow coupling is used, while in the production pipeline, the flow coupling is usually connected by outer diameter and has a length of 3, 4, 6 and 8 feet (1.0, 1.3, 2.0 and 2.7 meters).
The outer diameter of the flow coupling is usually the same as the outer diameter of the tubing coupling and the inner diameter of the tubing string. They operate above and below any profile valve seat nipple and sliding sleeve, and the turbulence generated by the fluid limited by the nipple is expected to reach the erosion rate and damage the tubing string.
